Hey Guys,

I picked up this S&W Model 3000 a month ago and I'm wondering when it was made. Serial Number, fb88XXX. I reblued the barrel and receiver. Any tips on bringing the synthetic stock back to life?

Thanks!

how's it shoot? Not to familiar with the SW 3000 or SW shot guns in general.

It shoots great! A friend came over with a new Mossberg 590 and a Remington 870 and I have an older 590. We compared them at the range. The S&W had a smoother action and shot great. Magazine extensions are available and I purchased one to make it 7 + 1, but more capacity ones are available too.

It's a nice shotgun. Surprised they didn't keep making them. They made some with wood furniture. I wouldn't mind finding some for this, but so far looks like the stock is unobtanium.

They were made by Howa, a definite improvement over the 916, made for S&W by Noble. The 3000 and 1000 (semi auto, similar to the Rem. 1100) were decent alternatives to the 870 and 1100 back in the day.

I've got two Mossberg-branded 3000's that I've picked up in the last 6 months or so (Mossberg picked up the importation from Howa for a year or two in the late 80's when S&W dropped them). They have the smoothest action of any pump I've handled.

One pakerized, one blued. Both of mine came with SpeedFeed stocks. I added Choate extensions and fiber-optic front beads.

The blued one is very accurate with Federal LE127RS slugs...it'll stack them into one clover-leaf hole at 50 yds.
