Stevens or Crescent Arms Lever action .22??? please help!

I have an old rifle believed to be a Stevens .22 but i don't know what kind. It looks to be too narrow in the receiver to be a favorite of any model, and by the looks of the "guts" of it, it doesn't match any breakdowns of any rifle i've seen. Someone please help. The markings on the side say "Enders Royal Dead Shot" and there is no serial number on the gun except for the 33 in front of where the barrel goes in.

Enders Royal was a trademark for Crescent Arms guns made for Simmons Hardware in St Louis. I have not seen an Enders rifle before but it is clearly not a Stevens.

Await the Real Experts.

It looks to be a Hopkins and Allen. From what I've found so far, they made a lot of rifles for different "brands".

Is it a takedown model?

The name " Enders Royal" was a store brand belonging to Simmons Hardware. They procured their firearms from the lowers bidder, shotguns from Crescent and rifles from only god knows where. H&D Folsom, who controlled/owned Crescent also retailed Belgium firearms to their customers. If that is a H&A it would have to date prior to 1915. It does look to be a H&A or rather a copy of the Merwin and Hulbert 22 rifle. H&A and M&H were so tied in together it is hard sometimes to separate the facts of who made what when. It could also be a " Bay State rifle " H&A bought Bay State and continued to make the same rifle.

If as in take down you mean the barrel easily comes off then yes just that one screw in front of the receiver. i think that it may be an h&a m1922 due to the octagon barrel.

I found some Hopkins & Allen rifles on antique sales that match every part of the gun except the hexagon barrel. Does anyone know if they made there rifles with this type of barrel?

FYI, that is not a lever action; it is a single-shot falling block (also called a dropping block).

H&A made many variations, both round and octangonal barrel and in various calibers.

They probably made this one as well since they made the Enders Royal Scout.

Just a note that H&A and M&H were "tied in together", but M&H was a marketing company that really manufactured nothing. H&A had the factory and made M&H guns, guns under their own name, and some trade name guns for hardware distributors.
