I've recently come into possession of some milsurp stocks and need to clean the gunk off them. I've done it in the past with numerous rags and such, but I think it's time for better living through chemistry.
How would I go about making a tube big enough to contain a rifle or shotgun stock? I was thinking about using PVC pipe with one end glued shut and the other end threaded.
The glued end must be sealed completely, i.e., it cannot leak. The threaded or capped end need not seal completely since I won't lay it down.
Is PVC the right material for this? I'm not sure what solvents I'll use, but it might be anything such as mineral spirits, acetone, kerosene, Ed's Red, furniture refinisher, brake cleaner, etc. I know acetone and brake cleaner attack some plastics and leave others alone.
Thoughts?
