I ran across a gentleman who was selling his "life" and moving to FL after a bad bought with cancer. As a younger man, he had completed the gunsmithing course at the Colorado School of Trades, but found he couldn't make a living, and opened a jewelry business.
At some point in his life he decided to apply his skills to stocking a Ruger #1A barreled action for himself. From the serial number, the action was made in 1978, and this fits with the timeline of the story he was telling. He tinkered with it to the point where he had fit and bedded the forearm and attached the stock to the action.
That's where it ends. He said that life, and running a one man business, kept him from finishing it, and its been sitting. I'm now in possession of the unfinished rifle, and need someone to do final fit, plus a butt pad (checked steel if available) and pistol grip cap.
I went on the Internet, and most of what I found were gents selling their own stock sets requiring fitting,
Does anyone know someone they would recommend to do fit and finish (at least fit....I'm not opposed to finish) of the stock set?
