You can do it.
It's easy.
Field strip the gun.
Make sure the hammer is in the forward position. Don't snap it with the gun apart, hold the hammer and let it go forward gently when you pull the trigger.
Remove the grips.
Put a little pressure on the lanyard and push the lanyard retaining pin out.
The hammer spring will come out the bottom of the gun.
Push out the hammer pin. It's the pin with the LARGE head on the left side of the frame.
Pull the trigger and lift the hammer out of the top of the frame.
With the trigger pulled, put the new hammer into the frame. You may have to jiggle things around to get everything to fall into place.
Reinstall the hammer pin and everything else is the reverse.
Make sure the hammer spring goes back in so that it is around the loose metal rod up inside the grip frame.
Make sure the hammer is in the forward position when you reinstall the lanyard loop/hammer spring cap. Check the function of the hammer/trigger after you get the spring cap back on. If it doesn't work right, take the lanyard loop/hammer spring cap back off and jiggle the hammer spring and the little rod it surrounds. Then try again. I've never had to do that, but I suppose you MIGHT need to.
Should take you less than 10 minutes. Removing the grips will take longer than the rest of the entire operation.
