I have a Harrington and Richardson Topper model 58 (single 12 ga.)

It recently started misfiring. Usually on the second hammer strike, it will fire. What's the deal?

My guess is a worn firing pin. If so, how do I replace it? The hammer still feels strong, so I don't think it's the spring.

What would really help is if someone knows where I can get an exploded diagram for this gun online. It's a simple gun, but I'd like to know where everything goes before I start popping pins out of the reciever.

The model 58 has a striker & lifter assy that moves upward during the trigger pull to transfer the hammer strike force to the firing pin. This assy could very well be your problem rather the firing pin itself.
The firing pin can be removed by removing the upper most cross pin on the frame. You can then remove the firing pin toward the rear . If removing , be careful as the firing pin has a small return spring on the front.

In order to get to the striker & lift assy the gun has to come apart. They can be a real pain to get back together and they do require the use of slave pins for re-assembly. Before you go to deep into this make sure the action is cleaned and oiled. When empty, pull the hammer back and hold it with your thumb as you pull the trigger - watch to see if the striker moves upward into position behind the firing pin.

I don't know of an online source for the exploded parts drawing but if you can't find one I can take a photo of mine and e-mail it to you.
