Need help with broken screw

I have a vz-24(mauser 8mm) the front trigger guard screw broke off in the receiver.
I drilled it and tried to remove it with a screw extractor. No luck it broke.
I finley got it out and decided to just dirll and retap the hole.
The screw is on order from numrich gun parts, but I want to order a tap to re -thread the hole, but I can't find out the diameter and thread pitch.(I hate metrics) does anybody know the tap and drill bit size I need?
I live in the country so running to the nearist machine shop, or even autozone is out of the question.

1/4 x 22 should do it. Brownells has them.
