I broke overtorqued a screw while bolt on a scope mount on a Rem 700. Easy ehough to fix, so I drilled a hole in the screw and used an extractor to try and remove the screw. Unfortunaley I snap the extractor off in the screw.:banghead:

Any ideas how to get it out now?

EZ Out etc

Hello, Brownells has larger screws that you may need after chipping the remains of the ez-out with a hardened pin punch then redrilling and tapping?

If you can get to a milling machine, use a carbide end mill the same dia. of the minor dimension of the screw and approach it carefully in about .01" pecks at about 2000rpm.It will come out,you just can't be in a hurry;)

I was hoping there was something simple I could do to fix my screw up. Looks like a trip to the gunsmith for me.

I'd take'r to a local machinist, or shade tree mechanic. They have a knack for things like that and probably wouldn't charge much, if anything.
