Got my order from Midway today. Since I was ordering I got a baffle for my Lyman 55. My question is how do I use it. Do I put it in before I pour in powder? Do I pour in powder then put baffle in. Just need a little guidance here. Thanks

The whole purpose of the baffle is to keep the weight of the full powder reservoir from affecting the powder charge weight at the drum.

Without the baffle, you will get compacted charges when the reservoir is full, and less compacted charges as it nears empty.

In theory at least, that can cause weight variation as the powder level drops.

The baffle only allows a small amount of powder to get past it to fill the drum, and takes the weight of the full reservoir off the drum.

Yeah. I was having fits with my Redding Model 3. I could not get anything to meter reproducibly. I noted the 3BR had the baffle and that you could buy the baffle separately. I did. Best thing I ever did.

Not all powders will meter well but the baffle certainly improved the operation of my measure.
