I just outfitted my S&W 642 with a Barami Hip Grip. I love everything about them, with the exception of one thing...the slick feel of the plastic. Any Hip Grip users here that have come up with unique ways to remedy this?

Wrap them with the gauze-like tennis grip tape. It works great. After a month or so, it will start to lose it's tack - so just re-wrap it, the stuff is cheap. And it doesn't stick to shirts like rubber does.

It can also be used as the surface for a home made custom-fit grip - covers gouges and nicks & ugly silicone rubber.

Edited to add: I used my Barami's with a Tyler T-Grip - the gauze tape made the whole thing look purty.

I hit mine with some fine sand paper. Worked pretty well, doesn't look too bad. Is matte instead of shiny now. It may need another dose later on the wear areas.

geez, have not seen anyone do anything to, or even have a barami in a long time. Back then people put a lot of rubber bands on it. Never liked that though. I would go with the skateboard tape as already mentioned. You can get something similar at homedepot. I like the tyler t grips a lot on those skinny grip revolvers.

Thanks, everyone, for all the great suggestions.

Last night, I tool some very coarse grit sandpaper to the grips, and scuffed them up until I got the desired "gripiness" I was looking for. I'm pretty happy with the results. :)

I was talking to fellow shooter at the range last night who sprayed his grips with textured bed liner. He says it works like a charm...

The "stippling" idea sounds interesting. I may have to try it out on a spare set of grips I have on order.
