A few years ago I mounted a vxIII on my 338 win... I sighted it in and had a good load developed shortly after... At least once a year I'll grab the rifle and go to my range... Each time, I must readjust zero.. Zero has now been readjusted 3 or four times with same proven ammo... Not until today, did I notice something that might be responsible... When I loosened the locknut for the diopter adjustment and while viewing through the scope, the reticle moved, significantly... Today I had to adjust the scope's turrets to raise POI 3" up and 1.25" left....
I have 2 other German scopes on other rifles, this has never come up.. Both are FFP, one a Schmidt&Bender and the other a Docter (both 1.5-6x42)...
Is a Leupold vxIII 2.5-8-36 SFP scope constructed such that diopter adjustment (focus reticle) affects POI... I know I have in the past adjusted reticle focus many times... I just assumed that such an adjustment had no effect on anything else... Or, do I have a faulty scope that needs to go back for repairs? Any help or knowledge on this subject is greatly appreciated..
