need help with p228 failure to lock slide back after last round

several times my p228 i bought used failed to lock the slide back after the last round.

i was firing reloads the first 2 times, then wolf the last two.

i haven't cleaned the gun (got it 2 weeks ago) and the magazines are the ones the came with.

any ideas?

i'm thinking it's a combination of fouling and worn mag lips, but that could just be my guess...

because i don't think wolf makes underpowered ammo.

First give the gun and magazines a good cleaning and lubing and see if that fixes the problem. Next are you right or left handed? I've had to adjust my grip when shooting my SIGs because my right thumb rides the slide release and the slide wouldn't lock back after the last round. Check your grip to make sure you're not riding the slide release. If your left handed that's not a problem.

Lastly, I would try some different ammo and mags.

I have the same issue. It's called 1911 thumb safety syndrome or TSS.

My 239 almost never locks the slide back after the last shot becuase my thumb is riding the slide stop like it was the gas pedal.

well I have experienced the same with my 226. Sometimes the slide with lock back, other times it wont. Now... it doesn't happen frequently, but it does do it enough and so randomly that i doubt my thumb is riding the slide release/stop.

I honestly think its a mechanical problem since I even look at my hold, and it doesn't look to intrude on the slide stop.

YMMV however, but I haven't figured out why mine does this.
