The gun is 12 gauge, side by side, with external hammers. It has a regular extractor (not ejector) and double triggers, semi-pistol grip stock, checkered pistol grip and forend.

The gun locks up tight, hammers are free of slop, looks to have all original parts, except for one hammer screw. All serial numbers match (barrel, reciever, forend).

Both sides of the reciever are marked "LC SMITH" and the left barrel is marked "HUNTER ARMS Co. MAKERS, FULTON, N.Y." The inside of the reciever is marked with an "F" under the serial number.

The gun is well worn, but free of rust or splits in the stock. Someone has, at one point, applied solder to the barrels. I'm told the barrels are twist steel. If I had to guess, condition/finish would probably be around 60%, adjusted for age. S/N is 139xxx.

What is the proper name and model of this gun?
Is it safe to shoot (I'm guessing 2 9/16" chamber?), and with what loads?
What is its approximate age?
Is it a collector or a shooter?
What's it worth?

Thanks for any info.
