I have a Stevens SxS 12 gage shotgun which belonged to my father-in-law. I doubt this has any significant value other than my own sentimental attachment to it. I would like to know the model number and approximate value.

There is no model designation or serial number on any of the three parts.

The right barrel is marked:

STEVENS ARMS COMPANY
CHICOPEE FALLS MASS USA SELECTED FORGED STEEL

The left barrel is marked:
PROOF TESTED 12 GAGE
|---2 3/4 INCH CHAMBER---|

The forestock is a pull off beavertail style. Both stocks appear to be a rather open grained walnut and are checkered, although not high quality checkering, and wood to metal fit is only fair.. It has a red rubber recoil pad

The action is boxlock, and has an engraved floral pattern. General condition of the gun is fair.

The triggerguard is metal, and appears to be painted rather than blued.

Any information you can give me would be appreciated.

i bought a stevens 311 h for $180 couple years ago. awesome double barrel you got there. depending on shape i would guess-ta-mate value any where from 2-500 dollars i maybe way off. i came up with that from bouncing around gunbroker.com for a moment. i have to tell you i love mine. very reliable easy to take care of. i 'd say forget us clowns and google stevens double barrel. i bet theres a ton of info on them out there.

Stevens 311s are rather roughly made but very stout guns. I buy them when I can find them. They run from $250-350 according to condition. I bought one this past weekend in 90% condition for $290. Unfortunately, Stevens got out of the shotgun business in 1989 but continued making rifles.

The gun you have is a predecessor to the 311.
