Looking forward to get a gun, my first in fact. So i had a couple of questions.

Regarding a Baby Eagle:

I've read that the 9mm version of the BE doesn't like >+P loads. is the .45 version as picky? Is the gun reliable as Home Defense and for plinking?

Regarding a Sig Pro:

Aside from price, would you recommend this gun over say a p series Sig in 40 cal? Would you trust 40 cal for Home Defense?

In essence, i want a reliable gun that'll drop any idjit who doesn't belong in my house and I also want to go semi-regularly to a range and not worry that the gun will die out because of it...

I'm fairly new at this, so any input you guys can give me will be appreciated.

Thx.

I have no experience with a Baby Eagle but readily sing the praises of the SIG Pro . My 2340 is in .357Sig but close enough . I love it ; IMO it has a better trigger and shoots better than the 3 P series SIG's I've owned and I'd go so far to say it's one of the best buys on the market when it somes to a service type pistol . Some people don't care for either of the grips , I am in the minority of people who prefer the smooth , slightly larger as opposed to stippled grip on mine , and some aren't a DA/SA fan or like the decocker and such but there isn't much to fault when it comes to function that I can find : it's very accurate and has been 100% reliable . Is it better than an all metal SIG ? I don't know as that's pretty hard to qualify and quantify . If you mean do I shoot it better and if I believe that it is just as well made and reliable for less money then yes I would say that it's better . I guess it is possible that it might not last as long as a 229 or whatnot if both guns had 100 times more rounds than I'll ever fire from one through them and both guns had been left uncleaned on truck dashboards for the next 40 years or something but I have no reason to doubt that the SP will give a lifetime's worth of service .

As far as .40 being capable of stopping an intruder ; if you do your part then it will do it's .

good points...

As far as the caliber goes, I'm not sure what to pick: 9mm, .40 cal, or .45 cal...

I've got the gun itch at the moment so i want my first to be pretty reliable. Now i know I shouldn't base my decision off movies and such, but i keep seeing references made to the 9mm as being a "pXssy" caliber. i know it's smaller than 40 or 45, just wondering if it's good Home D caliber.

Like i said before, this will be my first venture into the realm of handguns.

I've fired all three calibers, albeit in different makes of guns....the 40 seems to have a bit of blast to it...not so much for the 9 and 45. but i believe that Sig Pro's do not come in 45. So what i'm hoping is that 40 cal sig pro will handle the blast differently than a USP.

Sig or not to Sig

This is the Sig Pro 2340 .357 Sig - with NS & hi-cap mags - that I got from CDNN for $289.00...and the .40 caliber barrel was $89.00 on gunbroker.com.

I also have a Jericho 941B aka Baby Eagle in 9mm.

My vote is overwhealmingly for the Sig.

You don't need a different slide for the 40 barrel? You just drop it in?

If so, i think i know what to get...

Thanks!
