Got me a Ruger heavy barrel laminated stocked rifle in 22-250 and sure would appreciate a load for it have tried several but no cigar yet. and at the cost of bullets and powder sure would like to get ahead.. thank you

i have a savage 12fvss with a 1-in-12" twist 26" barrel
32 gr of Varget under a 55 gr nosler ballistic tip groups under half an inch at 100 yds. groundhogs turn into jelly.

Loading the .22-250
A published load of Hodgdon H380 and a Sierra 52 hpbt is a good place to start. H380 got it's name because a 38.0 gr. load gave excellent results in Hodgdon's testing.

I had extremely good results with CCI Large Rifle Primers, 38.6g of H380, and a 52g Hornady A-Max bullet with a normal crimp.
Out of my Remington 700 that was a tack driver.

39 grn of H414 and a 50 grn Hornady AMax - Tikka heavy barrel with 1 in 14 twist. It don't like heavy bullets. 1/4" group at 100 yds, 3 shots, 5 shots or 10 shots.
I've had good luck with 38.0 gr of Varget and Sierra 52 gr match bullets. Don't just try this load as it is a max load. Most books show 36.5 of Varget as max.
From my experience that 32 gr load above must be moving at 2900 fps. With 36.5 gr the best I could clock was 3380 fps.

I have the same rifle only with a wood stock. If you want to try a factory load, I have a tack driver using Winchester SuperX 55gr Pointed Soft Point ammo. I have owned the rifle for around 10 years and and shoot these exclusively. I did buy a die set for 22-250 but have not reloaded any rifle ammo yet. Give it a shot if you can't find a good load to use.

The problem might not be the powder or bullets. Might be the Ruger rifle.
IME, Ruger accuracy is "hit or miss". (pardon the pun).
I've owned 6 Ruger rifles. NONE were MOA, though one will approach it (Mod77MkII Hawkeye-Alaskan; .375Ruger.).
Even a Heavy BBL S/S w/heavy laminated stock in .308 wouldn't shoot 5-shots under 1" at 100yds. This was with either Fed. 168gr match factory ammo, or same bullet with variety of powders, or Hornady or Nosler match bullets. Different brass, even neck-turned wouldn't work. Heck I even tried different dies and sorted brass for weight and checked loaded rounds for concentricty.
Sold that rifle to a gunsmith who later rebarreled it......
My Rem. M700ADL (w/cheap plastic stock) in .22-250 shoots Sierra 50, 55, and 63gr bullets to ~1/2moa or better with 39.0, and 38.0gr (for 63gr bullet) of H380. This is at SAAMI max length of 2.350" no less. No neck turning of necks, sorting of brass, ect needed. Just use a Sierra bullet.....
But, RL15, IMR4064, and BenchMark will do much the same at lower charge weights.
If it won't "shoot" with a Sierra or Nosler bullets, it won't "shoot"...

i don't have a chrono and i don't recall what the nosler manual predicts for that load. it's just what my rifle shot best. i'll take accuracy over velocity, but a faster load that was just as accurate would be nice. i like varget for its consistency through varying ambient temperature.

Old friend of mine really likes that load with a 50grn bullet in his early M77.
I've been meaning to try it in my early 700BDL, but haven't yet.
I load a 52 grain A-max over 36 gr. of VARGET in a winchester case with a winchester primer. This load has proven exceptional on varmints and shoots to the same poi as hornady 55 grain factory loads. CAUTION: this is a maximum load work up to it from a starting load.
