I like my taurus 445 2" but the factory stocks don't fit well. Any one know of a good replacement ? I'd like something like a secret agent grip but eagle grips will not make them for a 445.

s&w 24,
I can feel your pain regarding lack of good aftermarket options for Taurus revolvers. I have several Taurus models and have asked around about replacement grip options, but it seems that no one makes them (except for some M85 small grip models). This is surprising to me, since Taurus revolvers appear to be pretty popular these days. Wish I could help you. Good luck in your search.

Good luck. I haven't been able to find any aftermarket grips for my 445 either.
The rubber ones that came on it are surprisingly comfortable but I still prefer wooden grips on a blued gun.

Hogue makes them

on getgrip.com - Hogue's site they show grips for the medium and large frame pistols
Large Frame-Square Butt - Models 44, 65, 80, 82, 83, 96, 431, 441, 607, 608, 669 and 689
Large Frame-Round Butt - Models 44, 65, 66, 431 and 608
Granted, the 455 is not there but it might be the same frame as one of the ones listed
Lots of beautiful wood offered

an old style med frame taurus is not the same. I have a taurus 441 4" and it has a S&W type frame the 445 has a dan wesson type frame.

.....and to make matters worse, Taurus appears to have discontinued the 445 :cuss: :fire: :cuss: . This will doom any prospects of aftermarket gripmakers adding grips for them. Low production/No longer in production usually = no go.

The 445 was on my list for near-future aquisitions. They seem to be very hard to find.

Taurus goes in cycles. When sales slow down on a particular model (as the .44 Special did) they discontinue it for a couple of years to let demand build back up. Then they reintroduce it. Don’t’ worry, the .445 will be back …

As for wood grips …

Try Numrich/The Parts Corporation at (www.e-gunparts.com) They might have something.

Hope that's right. Stainless steel 445 is a mighty appealing gun.

Now, if they bring it back it'll probably have mandatory porting like virtually all Taurus snubbies. Don't like that. Save the porting for 4"+ barrel guns. The early 445s didn't have porting. Quite a find if you can scare one up.

Still hope they bring the gun back soon.

talked to a guy at the last gun show that sells mostly pistol stocks. He told me that all the people that he has talked to won't be making any stocks for the 445.

The next step is to find a custom stock maker I figure. Anyone know anything about Ahern grips ?
