I am looking at buying a new Charles Daly Supior Mini Mouser in 7.62x39.

First off, have any of you had any experience with this rifle? How is accuracy? I am thinking this would be a great deer rifle for my girlfriend and ammo is cheap. The longest shot when hunting deer around my area is usually in the 100 to 125 yard yange. Last question is where is the cheapest place to find one of these rifles? I cant find them anywhere.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Thanks for the reply. I dont really care too much about the cost of ammo because this will be a limited use rifle. I dont think the price will surpass ammo like 7mm mag or other good hunting ammo.

I checked out the dealer locater and found a few local dealers. I also found out that walmart handles atleast some Charles Daly rifles so I will be checking there also.

I do not have any experience with these rifles, however, I am now taking a closer look at them. As far as cheap ammo goes, while 7.62x39 is still cheaper than some calibers, the price seems to be rising. Check this link to locate a dealer.

I read on another board that H&R/NEF will be offering their single shot rifle in 7.62X39 for 2006 (along with .35 Whelen for anyone interested) .

Might be a cheaper route.

I thought about getting one of thier 500S&W single shot rifles but for my use here I think I would want a bolt with internal mag. I was really trying to narrow it down to this or the CZ527. I just think the CD looks better.

i bought a charles daly mauser last spring in 270. i have to say that i wasnt very impressed with the rifle at all. mostly i had a problem with the fit and finish, and operation of the bolt. it was very rough, and improoved alot after i polished up the magazine follower. mine also came in very very nasty, it has grease all over in and caked in the barrel. i had to give it a thurough cleaning before i could shoot it. a far as shooting it goes, ive gotten busy enough with other projects ive not even looked at it since i put it back in its box.
