I was just looking at a .22 magnum hi standard double action revolver (sentenal mark 4) that was in very good condition and thinking of buying it but when I looked at the gap in between the cylinder and cone you probably could have put a dime in there. Everything was tight and in good shape so I couldn't understand this. Is this just something that won't affect .22 mags very much? I know the guy who's collection this came from and he's normally very meticulous about his guns.

Any advice would be greatly apprectiated.

The revolver may well have left the factory with an enormous barrel-cylinder gap. High Standard used to be pretty meticulous about its top of the line .22 caliber match pistols—most of the time, anyway—but usually cut corners on its other products.

Personally, I'd have to shoot a gun with that large a gap before considering buying it.

Wouldn't there be a large loss of power? Put it this way, is there any possible way that a pistol with that large a gap could deliver full power? Especially when you consider the large powder capacity characteristics of a .22 mag. If this gun would function at full .22 mag pistol levels, I'd jump right on it.
