I just saw this at a pawn shop near my house. It looks as though time has stopped on this gun as it is nearly perfect.

Anybody know what it should be worth? Model 10-7 38spl, 4" tapered barrel, blue, square butt, original wood grips.

Thanks for the info. He wants $225 for it, which sounded like a good deal. Of course that would be +tax.
What would make it a $400 gun? BTW, I think the first 2 of the serial were AW.

The original box, all the paperwork and the cleaning rod, swab, and brush would make it a $400.00 gun.
$225.00 makes it a bargain.

Sounds like a deal to me. I would scoop it up.

I would also try to give him 225.00 out the door, tax included. It wont hurt to ask, trust me

Not Bad~

$225 isn't a bad price for a pristine S&W model 10-7 at all. But, right
before Christmas of 2004, I picked up a very minty, factory nickel 2"
S&W model 10-5 for the measly sum of $150! :uhoh:  Actually, I took
it in on trade for a Taurus Ultra-Lite .357 magnum, and bought it from
my employer. Of course, mine was bought with after market (Hogue)
Monogrips; and came with no box, paperwork, or tools.

Best Wishes,

Well, I just HAD to go get it. I cannot resist a good deal on a minty old wheelgun. The serial # is AFWxxxx Does that mean anything?
Thanks for all the help folks.

After a bit of haggling, I got it for $200 out the door.

Gentlemen, we have gun porn:

Bragger :neener:

Just kidding...I think. Awesome deal and even better after you employed a little negotiating. Its rare to find a good deal at pawn shops these days. Did they have any other good deals like that on wheel guns or semi autos?

You gonna make it to the shoot this Sunday in Mesquite?

This was in fact the only handgun they had for sale. It's a really small shop and I am usually the only customer when I come in.

Yep, I am planning to come to Gibsons on Sunday and I will bring it with me.
Got to stop at wally world for some cheap 38spl ammo this week. :D I don't plan on shooting it a lot but it's not "unfired" so I want to hear it go bang a few times before I put it away.

Cool, see ya there. I will be bringing my new to me S&W 64-2 that I picked up at the TSRA show a couple weeks ago. I paid more than you did and although mine is in good condition, its not nearly as nice as yours. Even though mine is Nickel, still not as clean.

We can compare notes at the range. Trade ya a cylinder for a cylinder on paper.

Looks like your very minty S&W 10-7 was made either in Dec. of 1984,or early January of 1985; as per the 2nd edition of The Standard
Catalog Of Smith & Wesson, by Supica & Nahas.

Thanks! That's great info. Looks like another book purchase in my future. :D

Sweet deal-congrats!
As mentioned by aguyindallas regarding pawn shops-a bargain very rare indeed, in my travels and shopping experiences.

This is the 2nd revolver I've bought from the same pawn shop. MY first was an old Charter Arms undercover with exposed ejector rod in excellent condition.

In fact, I've bought quite a few guns from pawn shops in my area. You just have to be relentless and go in every 4 or 5 days, BS with the employess, maybe buy a few cd's or dvd's now and then. The reg customer will always get a better deal than the guy who's never been in the store.
