HP38/ 115 JHP OAL= 1.125" Min=4.7gr Max=5.1gr

Stay on the lower end of this data, say from 4.7gr to 4.9gr, and you will be good to go!

Also you can use the mid to upper lead data for 115gr Berry's.
HP38/ 115 LRN OAL=1.100" Min=4.3gr Max=4.8gr

You should get a very soft recoil with 4.6gr to 4.7gr providing your gun functions properly.

Berry 124 HBRN & AA#2

I've been loading 124 HBRN over 3.8gr of AA#2 @1.130 and like the accuracy. My question is Western Powders lists RN and HBFP in their latest guide as :

RN 3.8 to 4.4 OAL 1.160
HBFP 3.3 to 4.1. OAL 1.060

Why the disparity? is it the hollow base or the profile. I'm good either way with the 3.8 but wondered about the lighter starting weight for the HBFP.

Gahunter12, I started to respond, but had misread the post....saw no delete post button, so I deleted as well as I could.

I'm still new to this, so take it with a grain/block of salt, but the HBFP has a shorter OAL. This would require less charge to cause the same pressure (I think). Probably explains the difference.

Someone here will chime in and back me up or tell me why I'm wrong. Lots of smart, helpful folks on this board.

With the TP ( thick plated ) bullets you can work with jacketed data. As with any published data, work up from a starting charge that is below mid point and you'll be fine.

They appear to be safe to at least 90% of jacketed data. When shooting them and jacketed with the same charge the velocities gained are virtually identical when the same basic seating depth, taking into account the hollow base.
