Purchased a .40 S&W Witness cheap a little while ago, probably because the safety did not "snick", it just slid up and down. I figured it was the detent and the previous owner had lost the spring for it. Well... everything is there, but it seems like the detent plate is either too thin, as it disengages from the safety, or the safety has been bent, as it visibly leans away from the frame. So what are my options in fixing this?

Trying to figure out a replacement part could be a headache... and I couldn't find any info at the CZ forum.

Call EAA, unfortunately. I once looked into getting parts direct from Tanfoglio, once, and discovered they are not allowed by Italian law to ship ANY firearms parts other than to thier importer in the USA. So, call EAA, listen to the "Entertainer" canned music for an hour, and hope to get someone who won't blow you off.
Or, do what I did, and carry hammer down, and don't worry about the safety - never used it in 13+ years of carry an EAA Witness 40.

Ah, the dreaded call them response!

I think I will use today and call Taurus first, the other gun I bought along with this one needs a new rear sight. :D

Your safety is a bit different than mine on the 10mm. But I ended up tweaking the notches in the frame to get it to snap in better.

I think I may stop at Home Depot and see if I can get a thin piece of metal to keep that detent piece a little away from the frame and see if it helps. From what I have read, the safety notch design has changed several times, that is why the part hunting could be a pain.

I just called Taurus for my rear sight on the other gun... $40, that is 1/4 of what I paid for the whole gun!
