A number of years ago, I picked up a couple of gun cleaning kits that are fantastic. The rods are stainless and they come in a red pouches. I have stainless tips and rods for .22LR, .38/9mm, and .44/.45. Now I'd like to get more, but can't seem to find any decent kits. Everything's aluminum and plastic for the most part, and the fifty-dollar kits with all the extra stuff just isn't what I need.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good, compact kit like the ones I described?

Thanks.

This is different than you describe, but at Wally World they have a small pistol kit that stores in a hollow plastic handle. It's about the size of 2 C-batteries end-to-end. It has a small rod, several jags and brass brushes, and costs <$5. I keep it and a spray bottle of Hoppes and a squeeze bottle of Rem-Oil in my range bag's end pocket. I figure even if the kit only lasts one use, but saves my range trip, it's more than paid for itself just in the gas to drive back home for my larger kit.

Here's another I found on-line, but is in a larger box:

I bought the Otis cleaning kit. It comes in a zippered case about the size of 2 hockey pucks.

I like the 360* cleaning patches that can be shifted and use a different part of the patch and the flex cable. It comes with various lengths for pistol or rifle/shotgun.

They have a couple of different options for the kit; IIRC mine was about $35 or so.

Would definately buy again.
