Need some help evaluating my range results

I haven't used Longshot in .357 Sig but I can say in 9mm it is much happier at higher charges. Worked ok for me a med charges, worked much better at med-heavy or heavy charges.

Dudedog, thanks for the additional information. Looks there is a consensus. I need to up the charge for my Longshot 357sig loads. I am already planning my next loads and this time I will probably take it up to the mid-load as listed on the Hodgdon site. Only decision left for me is if I want go up by .1gr or .2gr increments.

Rule3, thanks for the link. I have been oking at coated bullets, but the problem with the FP coated bullets I have seen is that they still have the lube groove. Since neck tension is critical with 357sig, I would be hesitant to use a bullet with a lube groove. maybe somebody can let me know if it should not be an issue.

The velocities were interesting for me, especially between Power Pistol and Longshot.

8.5 grs Longshot out of 4.7 inch Barrel=1437 FPS
7.0 grs Power Pistol out of a 4.7 inch Barrel=1420.2 FPS

I'm just not sure how he gets 1420fps with 7.0gr of Power Pistol. You will probably need high 8's or low 9's to get 1420fps. This is based on data from Lyman 49th, Realguns.com and Lee 2nd edition.

This just reminds me that I need a chrono. It will help a lot to evaluate my 357sig loads.

When you do BE shooting then grouping and positioning is everything, but just a normal shooting/plinking out in the desert, probably one .5" flyer out of 5 is not that big of a deal. I was also shooting my Longshot 7.8gr loads, and it did not perform as bad as what I thought after my bench shooting.

These images are (First target) moving to 10yards, taking 3 shots, then moving to 5 yards (second target) and taking 3 shots. I kept the shots to a minimum since it was the first time I allowed my son move around with a loaded gun. The last target I had a flier and hit the head (just joking) . All in the A zones.
