I was thinking about going to wash dc. to check some things out while I was going to be on the East coast. Can somebody point me in the direction of the most current gun laws for visitors. Can I leave my firearm in my truck or is that even legal?

Don't bring a gun anywhere near D.C.

Maryland either.

Come visit the sights in Virginia, and openly carry your holstered sidearm for everyone to see.
God bless the Commonwealth of VA.

In Washington DC, the gun law for visitors isn't just NO, it's HELL NO.

I ended up calling the Wash. DC. Police Dept. No firearms if you are stopping.
It is very pitiful when a person has to throw the Constitution out the window when you drive down Constitution Ave.

I sent a tasteful e-mail to the mayors office. Will see about a response.

"Mr. Mayor, I am planning a trip to Williamsburg VA. in a few months. I wanted to stop and visit for a few days in DC. I was checking out some sights to visit and see some of our countries history. While I was looking into things I found out that your city does not welcome visitors that have firearms with them. I found it hard to believe that a citizen of this country can't visit Constitution Gardens or drive down Constitution Ave. while exercising all of my Constitutional rights. Why is this? I find this very disturbing that an American can't be free while visiting the center of the home of freedom.
Thanks"
