im in the market for a new rifle. im wanting an M4 type carbine. ive narrowed it down to 2 rifles but icant decide on which one. maybe you guys can help me out.

first is the bushmaster modular carbine. its got the 16in flutted barrel, flash supp, bayo lug, rail handguard, tele stock, flip up front and rear sights, ergo grip, flat top receiver.

second is a fulton armory Liberator 2 model. same features as above except for milspec 16in barrel, 2 stage match trigger, chrome lined barrel and bolt.

they run about the same in price, but i cant decide which to buy so i need some feedback. anything will be usefull. thanks guys

Probably your best bet is to ask on AR15.com - that's where all the fans of this platform hang out. AFAIK, both of your selections will work fine, but I don't know enough about the finer details to be more analytical.

At the risk of sounding rude, hostile, arrogant, and fuddy duddy,
since you wish to mainly hunt and target shoot, I'm going to suggest you skip the Calvin Commando Carbines and buy a standard 20" A2 flat top if you plan to mount a scope or optic.
Buy a standard carry handle version if you want to shoot comptition like Service Rifle Match.
A 24" barrelled rifle is even better for hunting and free rifle competition and they do real well for target shooting and plinking claybirds at the range on a saturday afternoon too.

Bushmaster makes a very good rifle.
I own a couple and have no issues with them.
Fulton make a good rifle too but I think they get a little too puffed up on themselves to warrant any more recommendation than that.

Well, for a plinking/hunting rifle a 20inch model would be much better. The above post nailed it, get a 20 in. A3, flat-top and go whatever optic suits you best. However, I know the feeling to just simply want something even if what you want isn't best. If you must go with a 16in brl. I recommend skipping all of the tactical krap and building your own. You can get stripped recievers for $99 and the you buy a kit that includes the complete assembled upper and the lower parts kit. You'll save a bunch of money doing it this way and you can build it however you want.
