I found a guy who has a Chinese AK for sale and I really don't know a lot about this type. I'm wondering if the price, $775, is fair.

1) it's a pre-89 ban, all Chinese parts
2) threaded barrel with slate brake
3) underfolder bayo
4) straight wood stock set
5) it's a stamped reciever, looks identical to my buddy's MAK90's.
6) markings: under the reciever, in front of the mag well (best I can remember) it says "B-West Made in China"; on the side under the trunion it says "AKS-47 7.62X39"; that's all the markings on the receiver other than selector markings. The serial number is on the trunion. No Norinco/Polytech nothing else.
7) comes with cleaning kit and 30 round mag

The chamber and barrel are VERY clean and shiny. Bolt, carrier, fire control group are very clean with little wear. Gas pistol has little carbon build up. Over all it looks taken care of and no rust. The only problem is instead of being blued like most Chinese rifles it's painted black and that black paint is flaking. I don't know if someone painted it or if that's the way B-west sold them. Good news is it appears blued underneath so I could strip the paint off and all should be good.

So fair deal or should I pass?

P.S. no, there is no 3rd pin hole

very fair deal if its the Chinese reciever if its a B-West reciever then no as they were not heat treated at all, not even spot heat treating of the axis pin holes or the ejector. The import mark should be "B-WEST GUNS TUC. AZ" "made in china 7.62x39

in 1/32" stampings, and some of them were painted black when recieved I still have a crap load of the parts with BLK paint on em from the B-West warehouse....

Buyer beware. I've seen B-West AK's with the pin holes in the receiver loose from wear, from improper heat treating of the sheet metal receiver. If you see anything that looks unusual, particularly any distortion of the holes in the sheet metal receiver, walk away. There are too many dependable AK's on the market today to take a chance on a loser.

I wish I could remember the exact stamping underneath in front of the mag well. I know it said "B-WEST something" and then "MADE IN CHINA" and that was it.

The stamping on the side said "AKS-47 7.62X39" and that's it. There where no other factory markings or anything. I figured it would atleast have a factory # or something.

The guy did say the receiver is a Chinese receiver and not one of the B-WEST US ones that are junk. But I don't know what to look for to be 100% sure. I've only been able to find out about "soft receivers" and "3rd hole contraban rifles".

ETA: Honestly I don't think the rifle has been shot enough yet to cause destortion from improper heat treating.

if ya give me the serial # I can tell ya exactly as I have most of their old records stored in a semi trailer out back.

Bwest both imported assembled guns from china as well as built their own.
