SB 173-This bill, introduced by Sen. Chris Harris, Arlington, would
re-criminalize carrying your concealed handgun on "school property"
even with a CHL-Concealed Handgun License. It would also make it illegal to have a long gun on school property. And whereever "school activities" can be expected to cause use of a parking lot. Whatever that means.
In other words in Texas I can go to college and leave a gun in my car or you can drop your kids off without worry while carrying- as long as you don't enter the building.
Chris Harris was endorsed by TSRA and "A" rated. Perhaps he is
uninformed.
I have seen posts before listing where guns were used to stop school shootings, has anyone got a link or them listed?
Thanks,
CT

Isn't bad Texas gun bill an oxymoron - just like good California gun bill.
As for your need, wasn't the biggest example of that in Texas, about the late 60's?
Where citizens brought rifles to stop a sniper in a tower on campus who'd been there a few hours.
Get a little Texas pride going on that and the bill should fail.

Thanks

for the "heads up" on that piece of , er, "work" Chris Harris may be pushing.
I live in his district, so I will be looking into that. I always suspected he may
be a little squishy when it came to "gun" issues.
If I can find out anything definite, I'll post it back here.
