These old Sierra's are the 55 gr. Spitzer, and 52 gr. BR HP's.

I checked Hodgdon and I can't find any data for these weight bullets that utilizes any of the powders I have on hand. The only data I did find is in my Speer #10 that utilizes IMR-4350, of which I have ample supply of.

So if IMR-4350 hasn't been reformulated, or scratched for some other pertinent reason, would it probably be ok to go with the 35+ yr. old Speer data, yes?

Yes.

Just keep in mind that Speer data back then gave you every bit of your moneys worth!

These are kinder gentler days we live in today as far as load data goes.

The reason you aren't finding any IMR-4350 data for those lighter bullets is because it is really not a good powder choice for them.

It will work.
Just not as well as a lot of others powders sold now.

Even in Speer #10, there were two or three other powders listed that would give you 200+ FPS more velocity at the same max charge.

4350 would work best in that caliber with heavier bullets.

Thanks RC, that was actually what I was thinking.

If I had more Varget on hand I would definitely be going that route, but I forgot I had this 22-250 project coming up and instead used the Varget for another cartridge that would have been perfectly fine with IMR-4350.

But it's all good!
Thanks again RC
