Need some quick John Browning trivia help

I posted a couple trivia questions on a non firearms board, and then realized I'm not 100% sure I know the correct answers.

Am I correct on the following:

That John Browning developed both the .380 ACP and .45 ACP cartridges?

And that the .380 ACP round was developed for the Colt Hammerless series (type M) and that the .45 ACP was developed for the 1905 for the Army trails?

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks Mike. It just woud have been embarrasing if I was wrong, so I decided to check.

Btw, someone got the question in less than 2 minutes. I gotta come up with some harder questions.
 
"How many guns did JMB design?"

And than part two of that question:

"Name them"


Man, that would take awhile. I can't even think about how many he designed and how many operating principles and elements of firearms tech he's responsible for. The world would be a different place with JMB.

Just finished "John Browning, American Gunsmith." It's fascinating. He filed over 80 patents, for over 40 distinct firearms, including everything from single shot rifles to automatic shotguns to automatic pistols to machine guns to automatic 37mm cannon. He patented his 1878 single-shot rifle when he was 23 years old.

When you see pictures of M1 Abrams tanks rolling through Baghdad with soldiers behind a Ma Deuce, look it and realize that JMB demo'd that weapon to the US Army in 1918, just slightly too late for WWI. The book should have been named, "John Browning, American Genius."

Can you give me the author and ISBN for "John Browning, American Gunsmith?" I'd like to track it down.

Does anyone know if Browning designed the Winchester '06 .22 Pump Rifle? Just curious 'cause I have one I inherited from my Grandfater and I'm wondering who designed it. (Or any other info on that rifle)

You know, I don't really have any of John Browning's specific designs, but his fingerprints are on a lot of guns I own. His tilt-barrel lock up system for autoloading handguns alone is pretty much the industry standard. The closest I have to a "pure" Browning design is my Browning High Power, although Saive finished that design after his death. (I gotta get a 1911 one day).

Typo on my part. The book is "John Moses Browning, American Gunmaker" by John Browning and Curt Gentry. I'll get the ISBN off my copy tomorrow.

In addition to inventing the operating systems, Moses invented most of the common auto pistol ctgs they use. 25/32/380/38/45 ACP; 9mm Browning Long. A flat out genius.
 
Imagine what John Moses could do if given the available metallurgy or polymers today?
 
I don't recall anyone mentioning the most famouse of them all.
