for the fun of it, i'm making an adjustable front sight for a 5 1/2" single action. i blueprinted the sight from photos in articles and found a local machinist who made the base and blade.

i found a fillister screw in brownells (4-48 x .25) but i also need a coil spring approx .06w x .25L for the blade, and a plug screw about 8-40 x .130.

rather than buy in bulk i thought i'd check here to see if anybody knew a source for one or three of each. thanks

I don't know about a plug screw, but 8x40 set screws (Allen type) are available at well-stocked hardware stores.

it turns out brownells stuff is cheaper in bulk than i thought. a dozen screws are about $1.50 and a 50 count spring kit is about $7.

but did i need to order the tap and die kit? heck no, but it looked lonely sitting there on that page. dadgummit.
