I need some help.

I have a Ruger Mark III which I purchased Jan 2009 and would like to attach a scope of some sort for (hopefully) additional accuracy. I have the stock rail that came with the gun, but have absolutely no idea what brand, strength etc to look for.

I shoot indoors and outdoors between 5 and 25 yards. I would like to spend no more than $80-90 (if that's possible).

I am a novice. Please explain as best you can. No detail is too minute for me. I want to learn as much as I can.

Thanks in advance.

I have the same gun. A red dot is nice, I have had good luck with the $30 one from Simmons, had it on my AR, a taurus tracker .45, and now am going to mount temporarily on my mark III. My pistol is stainless and scope is black, so I hope to get a silver one to complement it. A buddy of mine has a MarkII with a Tasco 2x20 handgun scope on it, and it has taken loads of abuse, and still going strong, loads of fun to shoot and extremely accurate. It is his coon hunting gun. You may notice that a scope on a handgun magnifies the shake in your grip, just work through that. It will get better with practice. Both of these options are fairly inexpensive, and you will no doubt be told, "forget that, get an expensive scope by xyz.", but I can say that both these options have held up well in my experience.

Many thanks. I ordered a $30 Red Dot from Midway on Friday. It is Silver to match the gun. I'll keep watch for the shake of my grip.

Regards
