There was worthy competition. Old S&W 745 was pretty good pistol. The DA/SA Gen 3 were also excellent pistols. Had two and they did not jam. I would rather have one of these then the SIG 220.It's tough when you're a .45 acp fan. If you like the .45acp, a single stack 1911 really doesn't have much competition. It is when you move away from the .45 acp that other pistols start to shine, but that doesn't seem to be an option. If I were to buy a 45 right now it would be an M&P, either size. If you go the M&P route, make sure to take the slide off at the store and make sure it has the new barrel. Also you won't be happy after a single action w/o adding some APEX stuff and probably some quality sights, but at least the ones that come on the m&p aren't plastic.
