My in-laws, seeing my gun hobby, have purchased their first pistol for home defense.

They're looking for a basic shooting course to teach them firearm manipulation, and introduce them to some fundamental home defense strategies, etc.

They live in Vancouver, WA and frequent Portland, but don't want to travel real far.

Any recommendation on trainers or facilities in the area offering classes?

Thanks in advance,

Ed

Considering they're not gunnies yet, taking vacation and driving is not something they're willing to do. I'm really looking for a weekend class or some one on one instruction. Maybe a local shop puts on a class or if anyone knows a smart person that doesn't mind sharing a couple hours.

Lakeview is 7 hour drive.
Seattle and Bellevue is 3 hours.

Preferably on the WA/OR border.

Mike Shertz is an ER doc in Portland, OR. He teaches for Insights Training Center out of Bellvue. Occasionally, he teaches their General Defensive Handgun class in Portland.

Rich Daniel is another Portland area resource. Fist-Feet-Knife-Gun was his old business name. I believe he may be contacted through The Place To Shoot indoor range.

Michael Steen works out at the Clackamas County Public Safety Training Center & Indoor Range . He is an old friend offering some very good training.
