yesterday I was given 4 guns by my late grandfathers estate , 2 which have been id 'd and 1 thats easy to id and another I haven't ever heard of . heres the question , anyone ever hear of a newbridgeport shot gun?? its a SXS 12ga 2 3/4 " with 2 triggers ,hammerless ,when was it apx made. the second question is who made sears shotguns I have a mdL 10125 .410 bolt gun in decent shape . and when was its apx date of man . it has a 5 rd feed tube and looks like winchester markings for the proof stamp , and a letter U on the barrel at the base of the reciever/barrel band .

coonan357, the Sears shotgun you've described is actually a Stevens Model 59, see picture above. These were a utilitarian grade shotgun made from 1934-1973. In excellent condition it might be worth about $125-$175. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the 'newbridgeport' name. Hope this helps!

I don't have anything specific on the NewBridgport. I do have a listing on a Bridgeport Arms Co which was an H&D Folsom SXS made for Belknap Hardware Co of Louisville Ky around the 20's & 30's.

There is another listing under Bridgport Arms Co which made a sidelock SXS soldby Fred Fiffar & Co of Chicago from 1895 1930. The Hammerless was made by Crescent Arms Co.

There is a possibility that the NewBridgport SXS may have been a dirivitive of the Bridgport Arms Co for another Hardware Store or Distributor.

In either event, your shotgun sounds of this vintage and is termed a "Hardware Gun" made probably by Crescent, or H&D Folsom, depending upon the year. Crescent was bought out by Folsom, and subsequently by J. Stephens.

thanks for the info guys , the guns are a little rough since they where both used quite often up until the time he got sick , the savage( sears) is quite a little number very interesting , the newbridgeport has a cracked stock and forearm , both of these guns are from the southern part of Indiana ( Indy - Bedford ) so it might be rom that hardware store .. I found a #18 stamped in both the stock and forearm .
