I came across a new item, used, that I have never heard of. It's marked ,'' NEF H&R Caretaker. It's a thumbhole black plastic stock with a trapdoor for storage 20 ga 3'' mag with a dull nickel finish . Anybody ever hear of this and what it may be selling for ? It would make a good little stash or truck gun . Thanks for any help !

Never heard of one. Sounds like the big brother of the .410 Snake Charmer and cousin of the Survival Rifle.

H&R/Marlin/Remington lists a Handi-rifle and a matte nickel, Tamer 20 or .410 with a synthetic thumbhole stock. They make a laminated 12 or 20 Ultra Slug Hunter too.
Just isn't called a Caretaker any more. They're calling 'em "survival shotguns". Runs a tick under $200, but may have been discontinued.

I can find info on the Snake Charmer and other H&R Handi-Rifles and what not, but I just don't find anything on this Caretaker . I figured somebody on the High Road knows or has the expertise on computers to track it down ?

Is this what you are talking about?

If so, looks VERY cool. I've been in the market for a Pardner 20 gauge single shot for some time. I've got a 12 gauge version that I have cut down to 18.5"... I'm pretty sure you can't get a smaller or lighter 12 gauge that doesn't need paperwork. But, as you can imagine it HURTS to shoot. I'd imagine a 20 gauge in the same format would have less recoil and still be plenty powerful.

Yes, that's mostly what it looks like. Instead of any shell holders molded into the gun like that, picture a smooth stock shaped just like that. Now on the butt there is a knob of sorts that you turn a bunch of times and the stock opens from the rear with about enough room for 7 or so shells, or whatever you would want to stash in there. It's pretty cool as a survival gun for game or predators. Has anyone else found this particular model ?
