I've got a 45/70 NEF. It's One of my favorite rifles . I've also had the throat extended. .300 in . For full power 500 gr bullets. It's a
piledriver.

I will stick to my Contender carbines, 2 of which I have with three barrels, .22, .223, and 30-30. For the 44 and .357, 444 and 45-70 I have lever actions. Very few of which I have much use for in the Peoples Republik of IL, other than paper and cans.

I have a .17 HMR in the Sportster Model - heavy barrel, synthetic stock, Leupold 3.5x10. It's my truck gun for ground squirrels. I like it because it's short to maneuver in the vehicle. For some reason, a person on foot spooks them at great distance, but they just sit along the driveway and I can pop them out the window.

I had one in .357 magnum; it was fun, but never really floated my boat. Sold it and put the money toward a Henry Single Shot in the same cartridge and am much happier with it.

Now there is a excellent choice in single shot rifles. I have two with five barrels and all are capable of better accuracy than I can get from them. I have shot groups of slightly under .3" at 100 yards with handloads using my .223 barrel. That was several years ago and I'm probably not capable of that anymore thanks to essential tremors. I never got the H&R down to 6 inches at that distance but it was fairly dependable at 8" with hands loads.

A few photos. First my Nickel Super, a custom .38 Super with a barrel rebored for me by the late Dick Nickel. It will also shoot 9x19 in a pinch by headspacing on the extractor. Everyone who has shot this little carbine comes away with a big smile afterward:

Next the H&R Sportster .22 LR, which cost me less than half the price of a .22 TC barrel. Shoots great when I settle down and concentrate on overcoming the billygoat trigger -- good practice! I later bobbed the hammer slightly with a Dremel tool.

A group shot of three centerfire H&R/NEF single shots with two extra barrels for the chromed receiver. The top one is a .300 Blackout model marketed by AAC, the bottom is a .22 K Hornet with a unitized mount and Burris scope. The action in the middle has barrels in (top to bottom) .38 Super, .357 Maximum and .223 Remington.

I had a 45-70 and loved it. I am thinking of getting one in 44 magnum. Any Handi Rifle fans out there?

44mag
45-70

Trap gun
Turkey gun
Skeet gun
Rabbit guns

None of mine are for sale. Even the turkey gun I've shot at least hundreds of times, most of those I've probably shot thousands of times. Killed a LOT of deer with that 44 and a few with the 45-70. Thousands upon thousands of shot gun shells through those shot guns on the trap and skeet range by myself, my kids, nephews and nieces and uncles, brother and father. That 223 was my go to sniper rifle on predators and beavers for a lot of years. It will reach out there.
