That is VERY scary. Fortunately, the governor will veto the bill.

I'm moving from gun-grabbing NY to Tenn or Florida 7/15/2013. I always thought Nevada was gun friendly. Now you know.

If you believe the Republican Governor saying he will veto the bill means this is the end of this madness, and all is well, maybe I can interest you in this charming little game called 3 Card Monte........

To quote Mark Twain "No man's life, liberty, or property is safe while the Nevada state legislature is in session"

Yes this should serve as warning to those who don't live in NY,NJ,CT,CA,MD,IL and HI that it can't happen ...look what happened in Colorado. Over the last couple of months there were proposals for an assault weapons ban in Vermont, repeal of the castle doctrine in New Hampshire.

No one is safe and we need to stay on top of these proposals. In so called 'safe states' these bills should not even make it out of committee, but some actually have and some have gone all the way to the governor and that should serve notice that your state could be next regardless where you live.

As a resident of Arizona I can assure you that we take no confort concerning recents events in Colorado and now Nevada. We are delighted however to see that the Colorado Senate President has apparantly been recalled - and by a substantial vote. Perhaps his fate will be noticed in the Nevada legislature. :uhoh:

As soon as it gets to his desk. I've e-mailed him several times telling him that signing such a bill would be political suicide. Further the bill barely passed 23-19 and there would not be enough votes to over-ride his veto.

Old Fuff, I don't believe Morse has actually been recalled, but petitions in numbers sufficient twice over to force a recall election have reportedly been handed in, so he does face recall.
I agree, AZ residents are watching these developments closely, as both Nevada and Colorado touch our borders, as well as California. We always have to be on guard of stupidity like this leeching in...

The Governor will most likely veto the bill in the next 5 days now that the legislature has convened.Governor Sandovals spokesperson has publicly stated that he will veto the bill. The odds look to be in our favor, but I won`t relax until I hear the Fat Lady sing.

I don't believe Morse has actually been recalled, ...

True.

... but petitions in numbers sufficient twice over to force a recall election have reportedly been handed in,

So I have been informed.

... so he does face recall.

So it would seem this particular goose is cooked.

This cannot be encouraging news in certain leftist circles in Nevada - and elsewhere. By November of next year they may realize that kicking the wrong wasp's nest was a mistake. :uhoh:

We MUST send a clear message in 2014

If we want to win this short term, we HAVE to send a clear message to legislators in CO, as well as NY and now NV in 2014. Please consider sending a contribution worth say a box of ammo to opponents of the anti 2As in the upcoming elections. Hopefully we will get names of folks to whom it owuld make tactical sense to send our contributions.

Long term, the only way to win this is by taking YOUNG folks out shooting, showing them how to safely use firearms and demonstrating that firearms are just a tool, an NOT some object of sick fetish as portrayed by the mainstream media and hollywood!

:)

The sad part is the wife and I were wanting to move to Nevada, but North Carolina seems better and better...
As a Nevadan, I would say that NC is on my list of potential states as well. Arizona does seem to be very proactive for 2A it seems, although even with people like Brewer and Arpaio, you also get nuts like McCain and Giffords. Such is life I suppose.

I've sent 2 original emails to Sandoval RE: SB221, and also sent a follow-up to my state assemblyman thanking him for his nay vote on the bill, even though it was ineffective.

If you haven't do so yet, contact NV Governor Sandoval and urge him to veto the bill (SB221).

All this week, Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG) has been pressuring and urging others to pressure Governor Sandoval to sign the bill into law.
