A few months ago I lamented the fact that it was getting harder to find blue steel pistols, what with all the polymer frame autos on the market. I even went so far as to say I would never buy one of these poly guns.Anyone have a good recipe for crow? Just came home with an XDS in 45 acp. Was amazed at how well it shot, how manageable the recoil was. While u am still a fan of blue steel and wood grips, this is going to be my new carry gun, replacing my old Govt. Model Colt.

A guy owed me money and that is how I got my first polymer pistol. It is not always about looks. Plus you do not worry about scratching them.

I'm a die hard 1911 shooter, but the Springfield XD series impressed me both with reliability and how it handled. Accurate, to boot.

Wife and I use 9mm 1911s for steel challenge, but just bought an H&K P2000 in 9mm and really like it. Beats our M&Ps by a country mile.

Seems everyone hates polymer guns til they try one. Then suddenly they ain't so bad. Well... Just THAT one.

That was my story, too. Congrats on your discovery.

The Ruger SR9c makes for a decent choice in a polymer pistol. I have found it to be very well designed and ergonomic. It feels great in my hand with a comfortable grip shape, a good trigger, and quick and easy to acquire sights. Like having the 17 round mag for a spare.

Some of the polymer guns fit the hand quite well (xD, some Sigs, some HKs) but I still gravitate toward my 1911s (and my BHP)! Nothing wrong with using different "tools" though.

Not enamored with polymer. My steel, and aluminum framed guns carry just fine. Plus they have nice triggers, not spongy, plastic, toy like ones.

I have yet to take the polymer plunge, but my resistance weakens a little more every day. :)
JUST DO IT ALREADY!!!

Many years ago, I vowed to own nothing but BHP's ,CZ's and maybe a Sig or two. Glocks were the antimatter to my matter.

Over the last few years, I've bought a LC9, LCP, LCR, Shield, M&P9 and Glock 19. I've held on to all but the LC9 and LCR.

While NOTHING will beat a BHP for ergos, it's really hard to beat the Shield for carry. I'm also finding the G19 to be an absolute joy to shoot.

Nah.. I bought and tried most of the poly offerings from the major companies. (Glock, Sig, HK, SW, SA, etc)..
I sold the majority of them off and I stated "no more poly ever again". Cause I didnt really like em.
Though I kept 3 for various reasons.
G17 = Only USPSA Production Legal gun I own.
G35 = USPSA Limited Backup gun.
XDs = CCW occasionally.

Yet after that proclamation... What was the last gun I purchased? Another Glock. :banghead:

I came across a XDs 45 3.3 a couple of months ago. It had 5 mags and all the stuff that came with it in the case. I paid my $399 and walked out the door. At first I thought "what did I do"? After the first range visit I concluded that I had a very fine and accurate pistol. I haven't looked for any more but I'll keep shooting this one.

Ditto on the Ruger SR-9c,

A few years ago I had rotator cuff surgery and could not shoot with my strong hand while it healed. My daughter had brought a Ruger SR-9c so I shot it regularly weak hand. Not only could I hit the target with decent size groups it never jammed on me (which is amazing if you know how bad my weak hand shooting is).

If I ever choose a polymer handgun it will be the SR-9c which is likely since I drank the AR koolaid this year.

Taro and anyone who's shot both XD & Glock: Would you say the Glock trigger is much more crisp? Nearly all the XD triggers I've handled felt way too spongy. As a G19 fanatic, I don't see myself ever purchasing any poly guns from Springfield Armory.

Your thoughts?

Bama...

FWIW... The VP9's trigger is closest to crisp I have felt on a striker pistol. Very nice and lighter than glock.

Bannockburn and BSA, thanks for the encouragement re the SR9C. Good to hear. I've handled two, but shot neither. But the fit for my small hands is great, both with the 10 rnd and 17 rnd mags.

My last 9 was a Kahr K9 (also some polymer). Fit was good, shot well and reliably, but weight was a bit much for me for EDC at the time, and a bit large. So traded for a SW 642. (Not polymer, but lightweight at 15 oz ... or close to that).

But now I'm ready for a 9 again. The SR9C is no lighter than the K9, but with that 10 rnd mag, is smaller. I just have to adjust my attitude about the weight, and find a proper holster and belt. Might even consider a shoulder harness for the cooler seasons.

I don't have any recipes for crow. I do know that if you
start eating them you will loose a lot of weight. Because
you won't eat too many. One bite should be enough. (ha ha)

Don't really like plastic guns in general... But...

My main carry for the past 5 years is a Keltec P32. Mainly by virtue of its weight, or lack there-of...

But...

I was at the range today and shook out a Bersa Thunder .380 with the intent of replacing the P32 as a carry piece and after shooting the Bersa, that plan is a go. I've had that Bersa for years without shooting it...

Also shot my Hi-Power with a couple 17 round KRD mags I wanted to prove and they were golden...

Also shot my my newly acquired Sig 1911R and it was really cool and really accurate.

Not much plastic involved in my shooting activities today and none missed.

I owned an XD40 and two Glock 19s. IMO, the Glock triggers are much better. Nothing against Springfield... It's not their design anyway.
