Taro and anyone who's shot both XD & Glock: Would you say the Glock trigger is much more crisp?

Stock they are both pretty crappy in my mind... VP9 and PPQ have the best out of the box Poly-Striker triggers.

Started with an FS M&P9 and then added an SA XD-40. Now I'm a 1911 guy (.45, .40 and 9mm) although I kept the XD 'cuz I like having a grip safety.

:)

Thanks Bobson. Even though the XD is supposed to win on ergonomics, I don't see the point if the trigger is mediocre.

Wish I could see the point in $70 HK mags... but I'm sure the VP9, like most HK products would be superior to the Glock. Anyway since the thread is about a guy's new Ruger & poly vs steel: :scrutiny: My only concession to polymer is the Glock 19. I've got 5 1911s- Colts and a Kimber; and some revolvers w/ WOOD grips. But what is my favorite for CCW? The G19! :neener:

I hate that the plastic pistols are superior for my purposes. I really like steel and aluminum guns. But I find the plastic ones, the XDM series in particular, superior to the 1911s, Berrettas, Sigs, Rugers, Smiths, and so-ons I have owned over the years.

I have been using an XD-40 for carry when it is cooler since 2007. I know it has a high bore axis & there are other guns with better triggers but it works so I still have & carry it.

I was using a Kel-Tec P-11 for warm weather carry. A few months ago that changed. I picked up an inexpensive Taurus PT 111 Millenium G2. It is a really nice size for carry. Again I'm not in love with the trigger but I like the size & it only weighs 22 oz.'s unloaded. Polymer is definitely easier for carry.

Thing is I went bow hunting this evening & in GA it is legal to carry a sidearm when bow hunting if you have a valid Georgia Weapons License. I carried my 1911 since I hadn't had it out in a while. Going to the woods is the only time I open carry. On my way back I stopped for gas. The pump didn't give me a receipt so I went in. While I was getting a receipt from the clerk I was complimented on my SR 1911 by the guy in line behind me.

Recently a new shooter was having a hard time staying on paper with his new FNS-9 I let him shoot my old Dan Wesson model 15. I wouldn't call what he did a group but it was all on the 8 1/2" x 11" paper from 7 yards. He commented on what a nice gun it is. I do like plastic for its utilitarian qualities but I've never gotten those kinds of responses about a plastic gun.

. . . .Anyone have a good recipe for crow? . . . .
Nope. I had to eat some on this very same issue. Nothing will make it taste any better, but the ick fades over time. ;)

. . . .Just came home with an XDS in 45 acp. Was amazed at how well it shot, how manageable the recoil was.
I've shot a buddy's XDs a few times and I'm always impressed. It's a surprisingly soft shooter for its size and caliber. Congratulations!
