I just returned from a prairie dog shooting trip and learned something valuable. Here's the detail: I had shoulder surgery 4 months ago so it was really important for me to be sure the rifle was seated firmly in the hollow of my shoulder. So in doing that, I pulled the rifle firmly against my shoulder and squeezed off the shot. In the past I would try to relax and lightly pull the trigger. The other complication is my tremor, which has been a problem all of my life. I learned that I can control the trigger squeeze better now with a firm grip, where it used to work to relax. The result was a higher percentage of hits on prairie dogs and the 3 day shoot snuffed 320 dogs. My rancher host was very happy and I learned a valuable lesson at age 72. Might not work for everyone, but works for me.

Sounds like your on the right track. I would love to try prairie dog hunting but it's just to far away from me. We did have a healthy supply of ground hogs at home on the farm that I enjoyed for a long time, but one shot and they all headed for down under and stayed there for quite a while. Prairie dogs are so stupid they all just stand around and pose for shot after shot.
Sounds like my idea of fun for sure.
I'm glad you are getting to enjoy that kind of hunting, boy would that be fun!
