new 10/22s?

im looking to get a 10/22 target, but the only one i have a change of getting has a stainless barrel but the receiver has this BLACK plastic coating on it, the 4 regular stainless .22s ive seen has normal silver receiver, so is this exclusive to newer target models ( for anti glare or something?)? ive seen a few online with even the target models has normal silver receivers. it looks like its mismatched the trigger group is black too, but its on a brand new gun. any ideas?

On all the 10/22s the receiver is aluminum. On the stainless model, only the barrel is stainless. The regular models have a poor quality black spray on finish while the stainless models typically have a grayish colored finish. You can also find stainless models with black plastic trigger guards.

Sounds like you got something that was a special run for a big retailer or the barrel is not original. I've heard of people removing the black paint on the receiver so it is bare aluminum and looks more like the stainless barrel.

They are bead blasted and the carbon steel models are blued. NO spray on finishes. It baffles me that so many cannot tell the different between a spray on finish and matte bluing.
