Hi, I just got my new Pistol today, I am having problems loading 8 rounds of 45acp in the mag. The 8th round is so hard it's like I was loading a 9th round into it. Is there some thing wrong with these mags ,do I need to cut down the follower? cut the spring?? Has any one else had this problem,, Thanks for any help.:banghead:

The first fix to try is load them up with as many rounds as you can get in....and let them sit for a week. Also....go shoot the damn thing ;), sometimes mags need a "break-in" too

Good that you asked first

Welcome to the new world of owning a new Sig.. As mentioned above, auto loader would be of great help along with taking them apart and cleaning them - however- your questions of do you need to cut down the follower or cut the spring is revealing of your newness to these areas:

Mag followers

Mag Springs

Doing either would ruin your mag/s and they would not work at all or at best, work now and then.

Being new is nothing to be worried about nor asking questions and you've gotten your answers, the right ones. So, taking them apart and cleaning them, for you, is not an additional problem you need to get into right now IMHO so -

Best bet for you right now is simply load as many as you can and IF you can get in the 8th round, that would be better/faster for the effect you need, letting them sit fully loaded for 2 weeks, to relax the mag spring so it will be easier to load them full.

I can tell you, having a P220R, that even with, now, 1950 rounds thru mine, both mags still require a bit of muscle memory "strenght" with my fingers to load the last round as Sig Springs are "well made" and last a long time, thus your problems right now..

New springs - very stiff when new and "unused" and the more ya use them/shoot the better your loading/fingers muscle memory will become stronger and more effective as the mag springs become a tad more forgiving..

Hang in there,

Ls
