How about a 3-Gun "Iron Curtain" division?

Handguns must be chambered in a Com-Bloc caliber (i.e. 9X18, 7.62X25, .32 Nagant) and be manufactured in a former "Eastern-Bloc" country. Examples would be CZ83 in 9X18, basically any Makarov, Nagant revolver, Tokarev, CZ52, probably others I can't think of.

Rfle must be an SKS or AK pattern rifle chamered in 5.45X39, 7.62X39, or 7.62X54. There may be an east-bloc carbine out there that shoots 7.62X25, that could be allowed as well maybe.

Shotgun should be one of the Saiga AK-styles... or there may be other east-bloc shotties that would work that I don't know about.

What do you think? I think it sounds like a hoot, gives me a chance to compete with guns like my AK and CZ83 aren't really legal or practical in any other arena. Another plus is that a ton of people already have AKs and Makarovs, and even starting from scratch you could get everything you need for way less than $1000, probabaly more like $750. Maybe we could get Wolf to sponsor a big "Iron Curtain" match? C'mon, who wants to play?

dude thats a fantastic idea. however i think the rules would have to be tailored to disallow "Krebs Custom" and "U.S. Arsenal" AK-pattern guns...they are so far beyond stock norinco's to put them in the same class is silly.

<now if only I could find an AN-94 Abakan laying around, imagine the DT's with that thing!!!! 1800 rpm cyclic rate for the first two shots :) >

Thanks man... my club shoots some three-gun matches... I'm gonna pitch the idea to them. And of course, the Wolf Ammo Iron Curtain 3-Gun Challenge has a cool ring to it. Does anybody know how to reach out to the Wolf guys? I can only assume they have some presence hear in the US.
As for the "high dollar" AK clones, I can only hope that peer pressure at the club level could discourage those guns made by the running-dog yankee imperialist corporate lackeys. LOL Of course, if US Arsenal or Krebs wants to help get the league started, they'd make great sponsors and of course their high-quality products would be a welcome addition. (How's that for politicking?)
