I received a new to me Security Six. She's real pretty but needs a bit of leather. I have heard that K-Frame leather will fit it. is this true?

In my experience K frame leather holters will work. Some do need to be wetted and streched some but most work fine.

Nice choice.

The security sixes are a personal favorite of mine. I carried in K/L frame holsters for years before I discovered custom holsters. They may cost more but you won't regret it.

I've had favorable experience with Simply Rugged and Lobo Gunleather for the big six guns like yours.

thanx

I appreciate the quick responses...i hate to pee away money on stuff that won't work...especially these days. I had to do some sellin and tradin, but i got a pretty blued 4" Security Six and a Blued 5.5" 41 mag Redhawk. i couldnt be happier...

The Security Six and the S&W model 19 are the same size.I have a SS in stainless steel I purchased back in 1976. It lives in a Bianchi holster made for the model 19 and fits perfect. This is the gun that has been my constant companion since that date. That and two speed loaders full with hot 125 grainers jhp are a very good life insurance

Yes. I have a Security Six and a S&W model 15, and i swap back and forth between them with the same leather holster.

K-frame Speed loaders will also work.
I just tried it. An HKS #10 will work if you jiggle it enough, but it's really a little too small. The JHP's were probably good enough and the LSWCHP's were not. Try it yourself before you buy a bunch of them.

I purchased this Desantis holster from Natchez Shooter Supply last month for my 2-3/4" Security Six and it fits perfectly. It was a little tight at first, but after breaking in it fits fine. This is a link to the same holster for the 4". They have it listed for a S&W K frame, Ruger Security Six, Speed Six, Service Six and Colt Police Positive.

I bought my stainless Security Six 4" seven years ago for $150. It was the best gun purchase I ever made. That gun will not be sold. I might give it to someone I care about but I will never sell it. I know you will enjoy yours.

Get the #19. They are for 357 cylinders, the #10 is for .38

I have a #686 HKS that works on my Service six ..kinda
Safariland makes a great one for the old Six series.

I bought my dad a 2 3/4 inch blued Security Six back in '77 for him to carry when loaded down with negotiable securities and headed to the PO (located in a bad part of town)...I got it back when he passed in '07....he could hit a tennis ball on the ground from the hip 6 outta 6 times...something he taught me to do as well...I can still do it and taught my kids to do it, too....the only problem with the gun is trying to decide which kid to pass it to when it is my time to go....

The security models take the HKS MK3A speedloader. Its between the 10A and the 586 sizes. The MK3A is the same loader as used for the Colt Trooper and Official Police.
