Has anyone seen this. It is in their latest catalog.. It has a 1" barrel, weighs 9 oz, and an overall length of 5", in 38 special. It is truly a pocket revolver. I got their latest catalog today with it in there. Made of titanium and aluminum. At 10 feet velocity with Hornady critical defense 110 gr was 764 ft/s. Mark kresser who developed it said, " Do not expect to spend a lot of time at the range with it". My question would be ,why not make it in a 32 Magnum and shoot an 85 gr bullet in it?

"why not make it in a 32 Magnum and shoot an 85 gr bullet in it?"

Because light-and-fast is out of fashion at the moment. Meaning that people wouldn't buy it in large quantities.

ATLDave, you are probably right as the 32 mag guns never really caught on. But at 73 , I have all the recoil I can stand in a 15oz 38 special. And, I like to practice with guns I carry. This gun is designed for carry and very little practice.

Looked at their catalogue. Could not find it. Please provide a link. I'd love to check this out.

The picture of the girl holding it shows poor trigger discipline. I realize I'm being nitpicky, but if you are advertising to "gun people" you'd think that would be something to check before 'going to print.'

I can't see buying that gun, but I have to give credit to Taurus. As much as they flop, they do strike out and do things other companies dare not. I realize that often, there is a darn good reason why a gun company has not put out a certain product line. BUT, Taurus is certainly not afraid to go out on a limb. Bully to them for that!

19-3ben That's the best female shooter there is, grand master ranked Jessie Duff . If she was getting ready to shot the BG that would be the point you move a finger toward the trigger !! Not in control of the trigger yet just shows what might be a more realist look if you had a reason to clear a handgun . Its not a real life screw up just a posed photo

I would rather have the Ruger LCR... O hey... I DO!! :D Taurus? um... :barf: I would NEVER trust my life to a Taurus revolver. Use the money to buy a used, anything else.

At least we can practice often with our Ruger LCR. I would not want to shoot this new Taurus 5" 9 oz gun at all.

642 went to my daughter when arthritis came to visit...and stayed.

transitioned to my 332 ( 32 H&R Mag -- recoil is negliagable)) which at 11 ounces is feather light and
packs 6 rounds powered at what use to be standard 38 special. sometime i'll even
carry the 351pd, 22 mag. though thats for sale cause i do not teach any more
so i do not need as many guns as i have, and darn if they aint trading at a premium

even in my good old days i'd of passed on a 1" 9 oz revolver --

i can see ads for them used " For sale XXX fired once, droped once, front sight bent but does not matter. Will trade for a bag of door-nobs or a sharp stick"

No thanks. I have no issue with Taurus revolvers, mine have proven to be just as good as my Smiths. I am, however, NOT a fan of these silly ultra light gimmick guns. Give me steel and shootability over feather weight and to uncomfortable to shoot well enough to hit the broadside of a barn 2 feet away.

Let's see: 9 ounces, 1" barrel, and in .38 Special.

Oh yeah I want to be first in line for that one!

Looks very interesting. I just sold my model 37, though. Recoil wasn't unbearable, but with the small wood grips, I just noticed that my other snubbies were much more pleasant to shoot. I'd be interested in looking at one. I also admire Taurus for trying new things. And I love my Taurus...but I know better than to start that debate again. :)

I think they have a very good concept, just a bit goofy in execution.

Right now, there is NOTHING sized between an NAA .22 Mag Mini and a J-frame for revolver aficionados.

A modern version of an old Iver Johnson, H&R or S&W pocket gun chambered for 5 shots of .32 ACP would be outstanding. NAA could just scale-up one of their Mini's and keep the solid frame.

That little Taurus revolver has some cool features. Here's my observations:

Good:
1.) Small "nub" grip frame and grip design.
2.) Smaller gun than a J-frame

Not good:
1.) That goofy lexan side plate. May save weight, but looks cheesy.
2.) 9 oz gun only in 38spl? Offer that thing in .32 and .22WMR!

how long is the "regular model 85" How much smaller (not ligher) will this be than a typical J-Frame?
