We're visiting the inlaws in Little Rock and stopped by the new Academy Sports. They have some 870 Expresses left over from their grand opening for $199.00 and after you factor the $25.00 rebate looks to be a pretty good deal.
(Long guns are legal to sale to non-resident as long as the resident is a border state, IE: TX)

Option 1 is the new 870 here or (option 2) a used 870 express at a pawn shop I had seen before we left TX that was marked down to $159.00 from $189.00, appeared to be in excellent condition.

Money is always an issue.
Have a gun to borry (870 Express) for a Dove shoot next month (ie: no real hurry)
Have been planning/wanting/needing a good pump 12ga.

Do I buy the 870 here in LR or wait to and get a REAL STEAL @ the pawn shop, thinking of offering $150.00 TTL out the door.
???

Buy It!

I didn't realize they any left at that price. That is where I bought mine for $199. That is where a bunch of folks did - after I made a few calls and emails. :)

I was told by the mgmt , when a new Academy opens up they have some special buying priveledges and can have leeway on prices. So - if a new Academy opens up - you have been advised folks.

One cannot have two many guns. Buy the new one here....work out a Lay-a- way back home for the other.

I'd spring for a new one at that price.

I got my 870 EXP on sale for $199.95...in 1993. They were usually $229 locally back then.

Both are good deals. Trouble is, if you pass this one up and then the pawn shop deal is already gone, you're up the creek sans paddle....

Is a brand new gun worth the extra $25?

For me, I would just lay out the extra $25 and get the brand spankin' new one.

Just called the pawn that had the used one and it sold this morning.

2 options today:
1) Cruise around Little Rock w/ the wife, kids, and mother-in-law checking out 'fabric' shops.

-or-

2) Fly solo cruising the local pawn/gun shops looking for steals and probably head back to Academy for the new 870.

hmmm  :D

Buy the one at Academy, then let the shops know you're looking for old WMs. And BA/UU/R....

870s do not breed, but they do multiply....
