Just bought a very used 870 from my department. 870 wingmaster with 18inch rifle sighted, very slick, excellent mechanical condition and about 75% cosmetic condition for $200 bucks. I'm happy with it, will have pics soon :)

Congrats, my department uses Mossberg 500's but for home defense I bought myself a 870 and am very happy with it.

I got about the same condition guy a couple weeks ago. Like buddah:D

It was in need of a very detailed cleaning (actually had rust building up on some of the internals:what:) and a couple coats of dark walnut stain didn't hurt things either. Came together very nicely.

Excellent beater....that I no longer want to beat on:banghead:

My buddy with the local PD got his 870 on dept only disposal sale for $135. The
PD has deemed shotguns an "unsuitable and outdated weapon" The officers have been issued ARs.

That was the official reason. An unsuitable and outdated weapon for modern law enforcement officers. Brilliant. Upside, my bud gets an 870 for $135. Small victories, eh?

Good deal! I picked up a very used 18" bead sighted police 870 from my local gun shop a year ago with beat up stocks and a lot of blueing wear for $165. Bought a new 20" blued barrel (I like 20"'ers) for $100, a like new used set of police stocks for $40 and new mag. tube spring, sear spring and carrier dog lifter spring and now have a reasonable looking 870 that is just broken in. Was even able to sell the worn 18" barrel for $75. The receiver still has blueing wear (not completely worn off like the barrel was though), but the gun had/has no rust or pitting. Shoots to point of aim with #6 shot, 00 buck and 1 oz. slugs. Nothing better than a bargain priced 870!

Lets see those pic's!

I'm fortunate, my best friend, was the Senior Dentist supervisor, with a very large urban Sheriff's dept. I guess he swapped some dental work off for one of the deputies for a Rem. 870 Police issue. He has a bunch of weapons because he can afford them, so he gave me the 870. His arsenal is stuck at his Mom's house because he's working in California now but he has picked up some Cali legal Saigas. He already has a plan for if he has to bug out, if the SHTF, to head back to Texas. I told him a major earthquake, may squash the ability to get out. Out of his generosity he also gave me a MAK 90 for Christmas. We're both 56 and went to high school together, so we've been best of friends for over 40 years.

Shotguns don't seem to be unsuitable and outdated for the military. I was youtubing the other day and got a 60 minutes piece on the seals in Afghanistan. They were filming an operation and one of the team was carrying an M4 and had a PGO Mossberg slung over his back. I thought that pretty cool. :D I'm sure they used it for breaching doors and such. Be handy if that M4 jammed at the wrong time, though.
