I've got a thing for 98/29 Persian Mausers. They have one of the cooler crests and they are very well made. Whenever the subject of "the best Mauser" comes up, the BRNO 98/29 Persian is usually somewhere on the list.

I got lucky at an auction over the weekend and scored several rifles, including this Persian. The pictures are terrible and the auction description wasn't much better. I bid accordingly.

It isn't easy to tell exactly what condition this Mauser is in...most of the other rifles are caked in cosmo and this one looks like it may have its share too. Better pics and description when it arrives.

I agree...love the crests on these. I don't own one but would like to someday.

I have one and love it.

Well as I get older those little sights are getting harder to see.

I agree about the sights. Those inverted triangle sights are a bear.

Two years ago I glommed a beautiful Persian Mauser that someone had drilled and tapped for a scope.

I know, I know...it's a travesty, but that is how it came to me. I did mount a 10x40 Bushnell scope on it.

Here is a group...45.0 grains of IMR 4064 with a 200 grain Nosler Custom Competition bullet.

The rifles from my latest on line auction adventure arrived yesterday at my FFL, including the Persian Mauser. I got a chance to look them all over before they went into the safe for the 10-day waiting period.

The Persian is all matching and is excellent shape overall, including the bore. The metal appears to have a thin coat of cosmoline on it and I'm hoping when I clean it off, the blue will have more lustre. The stock looks better in person than the pictures suggest.

i picked this one up locally and it is indeed a fine rifle. eastbank.

I picked up my rifles and have started looking them over carefully. I think I made out OK on this Persian. It is a little gunked up with cosmoline, but that may have protected it. The bluing is in good shape, no corrosion anywhere that I can find and the wood, although dented a bit, looks solid. It is all matching

The bore is pristine.

It has a few cartouches I can't identify

I made a quick stop at the range this morning and fired a few rounds through the new Persian. My eyes have trouble with the "inverted triangle" Mauser sights, and the target wasn't the best, but here are 5 rounds of Prvi 8x57 "match" ammo @ 100 yards.

I think I could do a bit better with reloads.
