I am looking at this at an auction

CZ98 Mauser custom 8mm Mauser Caliber Sporting a Bishop dark walnut stock. Wearing a nice clear Weaver K4 scope, low safety added. Action marked, CESKOSLOVENKA ZBRO, JOVKA, BRNO. Bore looks good with nice deep rifling. A strong, smooth action as 98 Mauser's are famous for. Deer and bear season will be here soon, buy it now and be ready. Please ask any questions before bidding.

No bids so far and it has a 200 start with no reserve and a 350 buy now. From the pics it looks good and already has the scope mounted.

Reasoning if you call it that.

I do not have a big caliber bolt action in my collection.

I tend to appreciate historic and tried and true. The 98 mauser definitely fits.

It is a CZ. Far as I know CZ never produced trash EVER.

8mm is definitely powerful and some milsurp ammo is still available reasonable.

The rifle has a bent bolt not straight like the Yugo 98s.

There doesn't seem to be much info on this board about this particular mauser. I did see a reference they produced mausers for the persians and are fairly well thought of.

I really do not want to get into alternates or caliber wars. On a mauser 98 is this a gamble worth taking for the price?
